Table of Contents : | The present thesis’ purpose is to help the reader fully understand the mechanism that lies behind collusion as well as the way that Competition Policy deals with this issue. The first chapter provides an introduction to Competition Policy by investigating its history, its goals and the policy areas that it covers. The second chapter sketches the main features of collusion, examines the factors that facilitate it and presents a technical analysis of collusion, by studying certain models as regards with collusion’s likelihood to occur. The third chapter gives a brief analysis of Competition Policy towards collusion and examines several facilitating practices that firms adopt in order to collude. Finally, the fourth chapter studies three very important cases in the history of cartels that can be used as a basis for both the confrontation and prevention of future illegal agreements.
